The taste of American cuisine depends on where we are - today we'll travel to Louisiana in Central America, where Cajun cuisine is prevalent.

Looking for inspiration to create a unique flavor for Jackfruit burgers, I came across a Cajun blend that I haven't used in a while. Spicy, aromatic, herbal flavors - something we like to combine with Jackfruit. Grab the pulled Jackfruit and try out this recipe!

Ingredients

Pulled Jack Naked  400g
red onion 150g
olive oil 1 tablespoon
garlic; cloves 3 pieces
cinnamon  1 teaspoon
smoked paprika 1 tablespoon
sweet paprika 1 tablespoon
Cajun seasoning 1 tablespoon
tomato passata 2 tablespoons
brown sugar 1 tablespoon
salt 1 small teaspoon
BBQ sauce; optional  4 tablespoons 

 

Additionally:
burger buns 2 pieces
vegan mayo 2 tablespoons
fresh cilantro a few leaves
avocado 1/2 piece
mango  1/4 piece
red onion 2 slices
iceberg or romaine lettuce  2 leaves
tomato 2 slices

How to prepare

  1. Open the jackfruit and rinse it thoroughly under water, draining it well.
  2. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
  3. Finely chop the onion and garlic and sauté them in olive oil until golden brown. Add the jackfruit, spices, sugar, and passata. Sauté for 2 minutes over medium heat, stirring to prevent the spices from burning. Add salt and optionally BBQ sauce. Mix well.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the jackfruit is slightly dried and the marinade caramelizes.
  5. Prepare the remaining ingredients. Toast the buns, chop the vegetables and mango.
  6. Assemble the burger and enjoy! :)
