Onigiri Nightmare!

A'la Tuna in Oil

Onigiri Nightmare!

Boooo! Tomorrow is Halloween night, so we're coming up with a snack straight from nightmares! Onigiri is a Japanese rice ball or triangle with filling inside. Our filling is A'la Tuna in oil, sriracha, and mayonnaise! Simple as summoning spirits, but it does the trick ;)

The shape and decorations are inspired by Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas <3 I wonder if Jack would eat such a Jack :)

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Number of servings: 6

How to prepare

  1. Cook the rice in a 1:2 ratio. After cooking, add coconut cream, salt, and sesame oil. Set aside to cool.
  2. Prepare the filling. Open the can of A'la Tuna and drain excess oil. Mix with sriracha sauce, mayonnaise, and black sesame seeds.
  3. Season the cooled rice with white sesame seeds.
  4. Divide the rice into 6 portions. First, shape each portion into a flat disk, using water and plastic wrap to prevent the rice from sticking to your hands.
  5. Place a tablespoon of filling in the center of each disk. Fold the rice over the filling, enclosing it inside. Shape into a smooth ball. Repeat with the remaining rice.
  6. Cut out decorations from the nori, such as eyes, a smile, mouth stitches, and a nose using black sesame seeds.
  7. Enjoy!
